A good Bangkok base gives you somewhere worth coming back to between outings. Around Sukhumvit Soi 16, that might mean a kitchen and a proper living room, or a hotel room with a pool and breakfast close by. The right choice depends on the hours you plan to spend there.
Start with these two addresses: Shama Lakeview Asoke Bangkok at 41 Soi 16 and Gardina Asoke Hotel & Residence at number 51. This guide looks at their published room formats and the neighbourhood around them.
Shama: start with the apartment
Shama Lakeview Asoke offers studios through three-bedroom apartments. Its One Bedroom category is 60 square meters, with separate living and dining space, a kitchenette and a washing-and-drying machine.
That layout is worth considering if you want to cook occasionally, work from the room or keep a household routine while travelling. Choose the actual category before comparing rates: a city-view One Bedroom and a lake-view apartment are separate bookings.
Gardina: choose how much room you need
Gardina Asoke offers conventional hotel rooms as well as larger residence-style options. The Superior Room is 30 square meters; the One Bedroom Executive is 79 square meters and lists a kitchen counter, microwave, work table and dining table.
Look at the equipment before treating those categories as interchangeable apartments. The hotel also has Lazy Daisy on its second floor, useful when you want a meal without another journey.
Compare the stay, then the nightly figure
| If this matters most | Start by checking |
|---|---|
| Cooking and laundry in your own space | Shama’s apartment equipment for the exact category |
| A straightforward hotel room | Gardina’s room layouts and view categories |
| More than one bedroom | Both properties’ suite or apartment configurations, bedding and occupancy |
| Swimming or training | Current pool and gym access at either property |
| A longer stay | Total cost, housekeeping, utilities, deposit and cancellation terms |
Room sizes describe specific categories, not the whole hotel. Ask for the layout you are reserving. For a family, confirm cot or extra-bed arrangements and charges before choosing by floor area alone.
The street is part of the booking
Both properties are inside Soi 16. Both advertise shuttles to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre MRT station and the entrance of the soi. A shuttle helps with the last stretch, but its operating arrangements belong in your plan. Check where you can be collected, how to request a ride and what happens when service is unavailable.
If you need to be directly connected to the BTS or MRT, use that as a separate search requirement. If you want this neighbourhood, plan the last stretch as carefully as the rail journey. Walk it once in daylight before depending on it for an early appointment.
For Benjakitti, choose the gate and route you want to use before setting off. A large park is not a single map pin. For a QSNCC event, confirm the event entrance and leave time for arrival beyond the station.
Give yourself a local day
Choose one coffee stop, a park outing and one good meal. El Mercado Phaisingto can anchor a long dinner; an afternoon appointment at Bodytune Wellness is another option when you want a quieter pause on Soi 16. Check the current services and book a time that fits your day.
On your final day, ask about bags, late checkout and continued facility access rather than assuming they come with the room. Our after-checkout guide offers three plans for the time you actually have.
